HPI Blitz Performance Tuning Parts by GCM Racing.

Blitz003

The HPI Blitz is rocking racetracks all over the world, and with the help of Erik Shauver from HPI, the truck can be tuned very well. But there's always more to be done, and GCM is offering a simple change in rear suspension to keep your weight on the wheels.

The rear toe adjustment on the stock HPI Blitz is done using an offset rear pin brace. This brace can spread the rear arms apart towards the rear of the truck producing toe in at the wheel... but this also moves the rear arms forward, away from the motor and diff parts. The more toe you want to run, the more the motor and diff stick out the back of the wheelbase. GCM has a cure for this....

Introducing the Rear Bearing Carrier conversion from GCM Racing. This unique setup allows for a ZERO degree pin block in the center of the truck, which brings the wheels BACK a full 8mm over a 4 deg pin block. That moves the motor and gearbox weight 8mm forward, and more over the rear wheels, a great improvement over stock. The ZERO pin block is machined from virgin Delrin plate and will hold up to any of your truck's action.

To keep the rear toe setting, we came up with all new rear bearing carriers that are available in 2, 3, or 4 degree settings. These units are more than just a replacement part, featuring oversized 5x11x4mm bearings, vertical 4 position threaded upper camber link mounting, and solid machined Billet hardened aluminum. Each set available includes new rear bearings to get you going fast.

Blitz009

Shown below, the Carrier is machined specifically to be more narrow than a stock carrier. This allows more tuning with the wheelbase. We installed (2) 0.6mm spacers into the mix to fill the space there, parts that were included in the HPI Blitz box already.

Shown above is the new carrier bolted in the stock replacement position. The original ball stud is fitted with a Blitz 1mm spacer and screwed into the inside most hole on the Carrier. If the stock tierod is screwed OUT 1.25 full turns, and replaced on the ball, there will be no change in the rear settings from your stock setting. The vertical mounting ball stud allows full control of roll center on the truck using spacers under the ball stud to lift or lower the stud, and with 5mm of full thread in the Carrier, you will have lots of room to setup. Each carrier is clearly labelled to show angle and side for mounting.

Product spec update and note on fitment in different setups:

June 25, 2010

You will have one of these setups on your Blitz using the GCM Toe Blocks:

1. Gear diff in Blitz with stock dogbones: remove orange o-rings in drive cups, perfect fit.

2. Ball diff in Blitz with stock dogbones: Leave orange o-rings in axle cups, perfect fit.

3. Ball diff in Blitz ESE with CVD: perfect fit.

4. Gear diff in any Blitz with CVD: Read below.

If you are going to use a GEAR diff in the ESE or stocker Blitz and CVD:

The GEAR diff is wider than the ball diff. That means that there is not enough free clearance when using the ESE drive axle CVD parts in combination with the FIRST RUN of the GCM tie blocks. If you have the old stock items this applies to you. To fix this problem, simply grind off some material from the end of the dogbone ball closest to the diff. This will clear the wider gear diff drive cups and restore the spacing needed to continue full suspension movement without drive axle binding. Please check your Gear diff and CVD setups to make sure you don't have a bind in the axle cup at the diff. GCM has made a running change in the parts manufacturing as of June 25, 2010 to allow a MOD-FREE installation in the #4 Hybrid setup. The newest production spaces the wheel axle farther away from the diff and will correct this for the Gear diff/ CVD setups.

If you are looking to bring the Blitz weight forward, and over the wheels, this setup is for you. When using a 4 degree toe angle, this setup can bring your weight forward a full 8mm minimum, and more if you use the wheelbase spacers - up to 11mm of weight movement. These strong machined aluminum and Delrin parts are ready for action and available on the shopping page. Please see the product assembly and information video below.
